Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone! I thought it might be Easter by the time I posted again, so I’m starting off with a quick post to get myself back into the swing of things, so to speak.
Although I’m bursting with news and photos from my first (partly) handmade Christmas, I’m pacing myself by posting about an older project, my most ambitious (and possibly least disastrous!) to date. Having received Cath Kidston’s ‘Sew’ book as an early birthday present from my mum, who got too excited to wait, a lovely bird mobile caught my eye. You may have noticed I’ve only included a picture of the front cover of the book, as I don’t want to embarrass Cath Kidston with any direct comaprison to my crafting prowess… obviously. I was just waiting for an excuse to make it, when I got invited to my first ever baby shower – perfect!
Admittedly, I should have taken more photos during its production, but this is the finished product. I’m definitely pleased with the way it looks, although I’m not sure how sturdy it will be when the baby learns to pull herself up and grab (especially not after a kitten attack). The baby shower was a lot of fun – we played guess the size of the bump and ‘what’s baby been eating?’.
If you’ve got a weak stomach, I definitely would not recommend looking up or playing the latter game – it involves (unused) nappies and various brown foods… I’ll leave the rest to your imagination. Baby Chloe was born healthy and happy on the 9th December – Congratulations Jemma and Eddie!
