Although I’m trying to get everything in my disasters ‘archive’ on here, I keep getting too excited about current projects I’m doing – especially my advent calendar which I cannot wait to post about!
Mainly, I’m excited as I have just back from my first ‘Sewing for fashion and interiors’ class at The Bowery. For those who haven’t heard of The Bowery (and live in Leeds, of course) I’d strongly recommend paying it a visit. It’s a cross between a cafe (with amazing cakes), a gallery, a shop full of beautiful things and a studio where the classes are run. Me and my friend Tara did a patchwork class there last month, and I was so impressed I signed up for a 6 week course! I’ll be posting about the patchworking soon, but as a taster, here’s the cushion that Tara made – something else to add to my ‘I wish I’d made that’ list!
This current class focuses on making a zip-up lined purse for the first 2 weeks, and then you can move on to your own projects. I really like the idea of the purses, as although the first one will be simple, I’m looking forward to adding applique and using my new found quilting and patchwork skills to make them a bit different. Guess what’s going to be in my family’s stockings this christmas?! This is my ‘half-a-purse’ (sorry for the overly powerful flash on the camera), which I’m very pleased with as I’ve never used a zip foot before. With a bit of luck, I’ll be posting the finished article next week!
